Frequently
Asked Questions
Who would benefit from consuming this product?
Busy, active adults who take vitamin C but want a more
effective way to keep their body’s natural defenses
strong – without taking so many tablets.
What are potential benefits for using this
product as recommended?
NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus is a convenient way to
supplement a healthy diet with vitamin C and
bioflavonoids to ensure adequate intake of these
important nutrients. Scientific research has shown
that vitamin C possesses antioxidant properties and
plays an important role in maintaining healthy tissues
and supporting immune system function. Bioflavonoids
also function as antioxidants, complementing the
activity of vitamin C.
How should this product be taken? Should it be
taken on an empty stomach or with food?
Take one tablet a day, with or without a meal.
When is the best time to take NUTRILITE
Vitamin C Plus?
The tablet can be taken at any time of day, with or
without a meal.
Are there any foods/drinks (such as grapefruit
juice) which will either cause the tablet to
disintegrate more quickly or slowly?
This is unknown. Grapefruit juice is known to increase
the bioavailability of certain drugs, but its effects
on vitamin C have not been studied.
What happens with unabsorbed vitamin C after
eight hours?
It will be eliminated from the body.
Can unabsorbed vitamin C remain in the body
after eight hours and cause problems?
The tablet is designed to completely release all the
vitamin C within eight hours.
Is NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus suitable for
vegetarians, vegans, diabetics, pregnant women, and
children?
This product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Diabetics or anyone with a medical condition should
consult a physician before using. This product is not
intended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for
children below the age of 12 years.
Does NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus contain gluten,
lactose, fructose, artificial flavors, artificial
colors, preservatives, or artificial sweeteners?
No, it does not contain gluten, lactose, fructose,
artificial flavors, artificial colors, preservatives,
or any artificial sweeteners.
Do any of the ingredients in NUTRILITE Vitamin
C Plus exceed the upper level for safety?
No. The Upper Limit for Supplements for vitamin C,
according to the Council for Responsible Nutrition, is
2,000 mg per day (1,000 mg per single dose).
Is NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus Kosher and Halal?
Yes, it is both Kosher and Halal.
Can NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus be taken with
other dietary supplements?
Yes, Vitamin C Plus may be used in combination with
other NUTRILITE products. This allows the user the
flexibility to tailor their supplement regime to meet
lifestyle and nutritional needs. Care, however, should
be taken when combining supplements so that no safety
limit is exceeded.
What environmental conditions may adversely
affect NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus? How should it be
stored?
Like many nutrients, NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus may be
adversely affected by humid conditions and exposure to
heat, light, and oxygen. For best quality, this
product should be stored in a cool, dry location in
the original, closed container.
Is it okay to chew the tablet or to cut the
tablet in half?
Yes, but it is not recommended. Chewing the tablet or
cutting the tablet will negate benefits of the
extended-release feature because vitamin C would be
released more quickly than with a whole tablet. In
addition, it was not formulated as a chewable tablet
and taste may be unpleasant.
How much of the acerola comes from our own
NUTRILITE farm?
The majority of acerola used in NUTRILITE Vitamin C
Plus comes from Nutrilite-owned certified organic
farms. The remainder comes from farms that, while not
owned by Nutrilite, are certified by Nutrilite through
the NutriCert program as organically grown.
What is the recommended age for using this
product?
This product is recommended for people 12 years of age
and older.
How does “extended release” work?
All ingredients are mixed together with a fibrous
ingredient and compressed to form a tablet. After
swallowing, the tablet becomes wetted in the stomach
and the fibrous ingredient expands to form a network.
The wetted tablet gradually releases key ingredients
by controlled diffusion through the network as it
passes the length of the small intestine. The nutrient
release rate from the tablet is slow and steady with
the wetted tablet gradually decreasing in size until
it is completely dissolved.
How much of the vitamin C in the NUTRILITE
Vitamin C Plus formula comes from plant sources?
In one tablet, 30 mg of natural vitamin C is
contributed by 120 mg of acerola powder.
Why is NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus considered
plant-based?
The foundation for the new Vitamin C Plus starts with
natural vitamin C from acerola cherries in combination
with natural antioxidants from citrus bioflavonoids of
lemons, oranges, and grapefruit. The plant ingredients
used are dried from whole foods. The 120 mg of acerola
powder contributes 30 mg of natural vitamin C per
tablet equating to 50% of the US Recommended Daily
Intake - a significant contribution to daily intake.
Ascorbic acid, a highly processed ingredient, is also
used in the formula.
Is this product all natural?
No. In addition to using plant ingredients, NUTRILITE
Vitamin C Plus contains vitamin C from ascorbic acid.
Ascorbic acid is a highly processed ingredient made
from glucose using a two-step fermentation process.
Why isn't NUTRILITE Kids Chewable C an
extended release product?
NUTRILITE Kids Chewable C tablets contain relatively
small doses of vitamin C - about 30 mg vitamin C.
Small doses of vitamin C are utilized very efficiently
by the body. Since there is little waste, an extended
release feature is not necessary.
In addition, these chewable tablets are often used by
children under 12 years of age. A chewable tablet form
negates the value an extended release feature would
offer.
More
Information
NUTRILITE Vitamin C Plus provides 500 mg of vitamin C
from ascorbic acid and acerola cherries - that's more
than you would get from seven oranges, 16 lemons, or
six grapefruit.
